VWS Westgarth, a Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies company, recently celebrated the completion of two projects; Saipem's FPSO Gimboa and SBM's FPSO Saxi-Batuque.
The Gimboa module is a water injection treatment package for the FPSO Gimboa, which operates in the Block 4/05 Field, deepwater offshore Angola. This module includes a membrane based Sulphate Removal Package (SRP). A Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) system is also included, sized for 4,529BPD.
The SRP is designed to the demanding engineering standards and materials specifications required by the oil & gas industry, and in service will produce 60,000BPD (9,540m3/day) of low sulphate sea water for injection.
The membranes employed in the SRP remove sulphate and other divalent ions from the sea water prior to injection, greatly reducing the tendency for barium sulphate and strontium sulphate scale to form in the reservoir and production system. The reduced sulphate content also minimises the risk of souring in the reservoir.
