Healthcare

Objective

The primary objective of VWS Westgarth aftercare services is to provide the technical and practical assistance required by the client to maximise plant availability and efficiency while reducing operating costs and increasing the plant's longevity.

World-wide network

In addition to staff based in our offices in the UK, VWS Westgarth is able to draw upon the resources of local technicians and engineers from our own offices in Luanda and Houston. A close group relationship with other VWS business units, particularly in the far east and Brazil enables us to offer the kind of after sales support that our multi-national clients expect.

Methodology

The VWS Westgarth Healthcare approach requires a "partnership" role with the client, rather than the traditional contractor role. With this philosophy at the core of the relationship, we can understand and best serve the needs of the client and ensure that production interests remain to the fore at all times.

By assuming a proactive role in all aspects of plant operation, the expertise that VWS Westgarth provides can be put to best effect. The client can rest assured that the continued health of the plant is under constant expert supervision and that risks of unforeseen problems have been minimised.

A key tenet of the Healthcare philosophy is a proactive and not reactive approach to aftercare.

Case Study

North Sea Platform, SRP module supplied by VWS Westgarth

The graph below illustrates the benefits of a Healthcare contract.

After the commissioning period, the plant was operated by the client.

An unacceptable number of plant shutdowns was experienced which led to VWS Westgarth offering a Healthcare contract to the client, which was readily agreed to.

An almost immediate reduction in shutdowns was experienced together with a general improvement in performance.

This situation continues to this day.

  • Water injection efficiency improved from 63% to 72% from 2002 to 2003
  • Plant availability stabilised at 99.6% throughout 2003
