Cartridge filters are generally installed downstream of the multi media filters and can be either depth or surface filter elements. Typically they filter down to 3 µm absolute or 10 µm nominal.

A typical design will allow for a unit offline at any one time for filter replacement. VWS Westgarth generally provide toggle bolted enclosures on the offshore cartridge filter vessels to reduce the man-hours required during element replacement.
