As a major contractor to the Water, Oil & Gas industries worldwide, VWS Westgarth is committed to the principles of environmental sustainability. We recognise that some of our activities have the potential to make both a temporary or permanent impact on the environment and we will always endeavour to avoid, reduce or remedy any effects wherever reasonably practicable.
Environment
We consider the environment
VWS Westgarth is committed to sustainable development. Our commitment is made to our customers, to our employees and to the environment.
As part of the Veolia Environnement Group, sustainable development is at the heart of our activities. Environmental solutions are our business, which means we can never be content to treat sustainable development merely as a question of image, reputation or behavior. Environmental and social responsibility, together with integration within the local community, are part of our daily work. Our responsible approach is illustrated in all our technical and business activities, and it is central to our "value creation strategy" for the decades to come.
Environmental Management System
VWS Westgarth has held its third party environmental certification for over 6 years. On our renewal in 2009 we successfully extended our scope to cover not only our head office in East Kilbride but also our Gloucester office and Gloucester testing facility.
VWS Westgarth continually strives to ensure that meaningful steps are undertaken in identifying projects that will produce environmental improvements in our plants. We develop Environmental Improvement Plans and carry out continual research and development to ensure that our plants achieve lower environmental impacts for our clients. We have for instance successfully introduced new and innovative pre-treatment systems that have reduced chemical consumption in both land based seawater reverse osmosis plants and also on offshore sulphate reduction units.
At Veolia Environnement, environmental performance data is collected and plotted over time to track improvements. The most recent publication is the Veolia Environnement Sustainable Development Report from 2006, available for download(5.5 mb).
