Project Management

VWS Westgarth is constantly evolving to take advantage of the latest project management disciplines, ensuring that customers' needs are paramount within the organisation.

Regardless of size, within the overall contract structure, a dedicated Project Manager is put in place who liaises directly with the customer. This gives the customer the peace of mind that there is an identified point of contact for all communication, coupled with the knowledge that there is a single individual with their interests at heart. The Project Manager is directly responsible to the customer (both external and internal) for ensuring that the contract is carried out to the satisfaction of all parties.

Project plans are created using MS Project or Primavera software. This data is then imported into IFS (Industrial and Financial Systems), which is the chosen ERP solution for our business. The Control, Scheduling and Resourcing can all be maintained in IFS. The system allows for accurate monitoring and reporting on the progress of all activities throughout the lifecycle of the Project.

Among the duties of the Project Manager is coordination of the specialist engineering and project disciplines required to meet customer requirements and expectations.

The specialist disciplines normally engaged on our projects consist of the following: Drawing Office, Procurement, Mechanical, Structural and Electrical Engineering plus external supplier and specialist subcontractors. The Project Manager ensures that a consistent approach with regards to VWS Westgarth Quality Assurance standards and supplier project specific requirements are implemented.

A significant benefit that a dedicated Project Manager brings to the successful implementation of a project is a closer customer relationship with our clients and better understanding of their needs. On many occasions we have maintained and nurtured this relationship by utilising the same Project Manager on future customer projects.

Project specific teams are set up for projects and their built in flexibility allows accommodation of the specific needs of individual clients/projects. Within the project team, individual engineers have a flexible attitude which enables the project to be engineered around the needs of the client. This flexibility also allows changes required by the client to be incorporated seamlessly into the project scope of supply, thereby achieving the ultimate goal of complete customer satisfaction.
